Event Record of the Asia Innovation Capital - Frontier Industry Research and Taiwan Innovation Board Enterprise Insights

Kathy Hsieh
Assistant Manager at TWSE

Preface

To promote the "Asia Innovation Capital," the Taiwan Stock Exchange (hereinafter referred to as “the TWSE”) has partnered with two major national think tanks: the Taiwan Industry Economics Services (hereinafter referred to as “the TIE”) and the Market Intelligence and Consulting Institute (hereinafter referred to as “the MIC”). On the morning of March 24, 2026, a grand launch ceremony for the "Frontier Industry Research & tib Enterprise Insight" cooperative project was held in Taipei 101. Focused on delivering deep insights into frontier industries, the project aimed to introduce the premier think tanks’ research capabilities to provide investors with broader and more profound perspectives on industry trends. This initiative seeks to enhance the information transparency of companies listed on the Taiwan Innovation Board (hereinafter referred to as “tib”) while further implementing investor education.

Opening Remarks by Organizers and Distinguished Guests

The launch ceremony commenced with opening remarks by TWSE President Edith Lee. President Lee stated that the tib was established with the core mission of nurturing "frontier enterprises" equipped with key technologies and innovative capabilities or business models. The tib is not only a dedicated board designed to meet the fundraising needs of domestic and global innovative companies but also serves as the fundamental engine driving the " Asia Innovation Capital." She noted that the tib plays a crucial role in Taiwan's economic growth momentum and currently targets fourteen frontier sectors, including semiconductors, AI, smart healthcare, and defense and aerospace.

President Lee further emphasized that the TWSE has an established foundation of cooperation with each of these two organizations, TIE and MIC. While previous collaborations mainly supported the TWSE's internal supervision function, this new initiative engages these professional research institutions to deliver specialized, objective, and comprehensive industry research reports directly to the investing public. Faced with geopolitical shifts, tariff challenges, and drastic transformations in global supply chains, Taiwanese enterprises cannot remain isolated from macroeconomic fluctuations. Moving forward, these two leading think tanks will publish 3 to 5 in-depth industry reports each month, enabling investors to accurately track global and domestic industry dynamics. By bridging top-tier think-tank research with the capital market, the TWSE hopes to facilitate a deeper understanding and reasonable valuation of the long-term intrinsic value and growth potential of high-quality companies, ultimately realizing the grand vision of building a premier capital hub for innovation in Asia.

Following this, Taiwan Institute of Economic Research Vice President Alice Chou delivered her remarks. Vice President Chou highlighted that as Taiwan Institute of Economic Research celebrates its 50th anniversary as a professional think tank hosting the sole comprehensive industry analysis database in Taiwan, it will produce at least thirty in-depth analytical reports focusing on the current landscape and future trends of industries of tib listed companies. She pointed out that despite the recent cooling and broader slowdown in global venture capital markets, Taiwan's startup investments have demonstrated counter-cyclical growth. In 2024, the investment scale surpassed NT$100 billion, reaching a decade high, signaling a strong concentration of market capital toward high-potential startups. Sector-wise, hardware, healthcare, and energy remain central to these investments, while the circular economy is rapidly gaining traction. As global industrial transformation accelerates, the new economy is driving a revolution in efficiency and a paradigm shift across industries. Currently, numerous high-potential new economy enterprises are emerging within the tib. Through this initiative, the TWSE aims to help investors identify these promising companies, facilitating the capital infusion needed for them to thrive on the tib and ultimately contribute to Taiwan's blueprint for sustainable economic development.

Chris Hung, Vice President and Director General of the MIC, emphasized that while frontier industries generally offer high growth potential, they are also accompanied by steep technical barriers. This creates a challenge for the general investing public in navigating the complex development of frontier technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and smart mobility. He noted that if the market cannot fully comprehend the intrinsic value behind these technologies, it becomes difficult to form an effective investment consensus. Therefore, the core mission of this initiative is to regularly publish in-depth industry insights aimed at bridging the gap created by technical jargon, thereby assisting the market in identifying the true growth value of these enterprises. Moving forward, MIC will leverage its extensive think-tank expertise to help investors recognize the core value of Taiwanese companies within global supply chains. By transforming professional research reports into vital navigational tools for investment decisions, the goal is to drive a virtuous cycle of empowered innovators and confident investors.

Keynote Speech-Technology X Life: The All-Scenario Innovation Revolution in the AI Era

In the first session, TIE Research Fellow Alex Tseng took a macroeconomic perspective to explore deeply how artificial intelligence is changing existing business models and daily life scenarios. During his presentation, Mr. Tseng pointed several tib-listed companies as case studies to analyze their competitive advantages and unique market positioning, underscoring that innovation remains the primary engine driving future industrial development. Furthermore, he projected that the next wave of major AI business opportunities will be concentrated across six key segments: AI components, AI devices, smart manufacturing, AI software, smart integration, and emerging AI products.

Drawing on concrete examples, Mr. Tseng illustrated AI's transition from isolated applications to comprehensive ecosystem integration. This shift, he noted, is not only reshaping consumer behavior but also compelling enterprises to strategically overhaul their business models and technological roadmaps. He concluded that frontier industries serve as the critical catalysts in this innovative revolution, reinforcing the core market philosophy that technological advancements and lifestyle changes continuously drive and reinforce one another.

Keynote Speech-Top Ten Key Tech Trends in 2026

Through systematic industry observation, Deputy Director General of MIC Edward Lin precisely outlined the top ten pivotal technological trends for 2026. Mr. Lin offered an in-depth analysis of how AI demand is propelling the upgrade of global hardware computing power and the proliferation of edge computing, which subsequently generates robust commercial opportunities in frontier technologies such as cybersecurity, information services, quantum computing, and robotics. Supported by concrete data and thorough industrial dissection and combined with the current progress of major Taiwanese manufacturers, Mr. Lin sketched a clear blueprint of future industry momentum, offering profound inspiration to the audience.
