Company Overview

TA TUN ELECTRIC WIRE & CABLE CO., LTD. was founded in 1962 (Republic Year 51 in Taiwan) and is a professional manufacturer of power cables. The company mainly supplies power transmission and control cables for use in public and private construction projects and industrial plant facilities across Taiwan. Its product portfolio includes high-voltage and extra-high-voltage power cables as well as rubber cables.

The company’s competitive advantages lie in its comprehensive product range and its capability to provide one-stop purchasing and installation services. Focusing on project-based engineering markets, TA TUN ELECTRIC WIRE & CABLE CO., LTD. offers customized project planning capabilities and full-scope power solutions.

Core Products and Business

TA TUN ELECTRIC WIRE & CABLE CO., LTD. primarily serves the Taiwan market. Its major customers include government agencies and other wire and cable manufacturers. The company’s products and services cover the manufacturing, processing, and sales of electrical wires, cables, and related components; cable laying, jointing, termination, installation, and technical services for power transmission and distribution lines; contracting of high- and low-voltage electrical equipment projects; as well as the manufacturing, processing, and sales of electrical machinery, electrical equipment, and insulation materials.

The company holds multiple international certifications, including UL/MSHA (United States), CSA (Canada), and PSE MARK (Japan), supporting its expansion into overseas markets. Its product lineup spans extra-high-voltage, medium-to-high-voltage, low-voltage, and rubber cables. In the rubber cable segment, TA TUN ELECTRIC WIRE & CABLE CO., LTD. is the leading domestic manufacturer of 600V Hypalon rubber cables, maintaining a dominant market position.

Hypalon cables differ significantly from standard cables due to their characteristics such as ultra-high voltage resistance, acid and alkali resistance, radiation resistance, and flame resistance, making them suitable for high-voltage environments. These cables are widely used in semiconductor and advanced technology fabs, including major companies such as TSMC and Vanguard.

The company has established a leading position in extra-high-voltage cable manufacturing. To upgrade its product specifications to 69kV/161kV, TA TUN ELECTRIC WIRE & CABLE CO., LTD. established its Yangmei Plant in Taoyuan in 1994 (land area: 25,000 pings). In 2015, the company obtained type testing certification for 345kV products. In 2025, a second co-extrusion production line will be added to expand extra-high-voltage cable capacity, supporting future growth.

Key Competitive Advantages

Taipower’s highest transmission voltage level is 345kV, and only five domestic cable manufacturers are qualified to produce such cables. In 2015, TA TUN ELECTRIC WIRE & CABLE CO., LTD. became the fourth company to pass Taipower’s 345kV type testing certification—an achievement not easily attained. The company also introduced 400kV ultra-high-voltage production equipment from Finland-based MAILLEFER to expand capacity for 345kV extra-high-voltage cable production and meet substantial demand arising from Taipower’s grid upgrade and replacement plans.

In the rubber cable segment, the company excels in specifications, production scale, and quality. Hypalon cables are often used in semiconductor fabs and uninterruptible power systems (UPS), while EPR cables are approved for use in Taipower’s nuclear and thermal power plants, offering competitive advantages in quality, delivery lead time, and pricing.

To further strengthen its competitive position, TA TUN ELECTRIC WIRE & CABLE CO., LTD. has expanded beyond cable manufacturing. In recent years, the company introduced electromechanical engineering (M&E) services, offering an integrated solution covering design, cable production, installation, and withstand-voltage testing to attract broader customer segments.

Future Outlook

Taipower launched the “Power Grid Resilience Enhancement Program,” releasing NT$135.68 billion in cable-related tenders from 2023 to October 2025. Of these, approximately 76% focused on extra-high-voltage cables, followed by 25kV cables at around 20%. Among bid awardees, TA TUN ELECTRIC WIRE & CABLE CO., LTD. secured NT$15.4 billion in tenders, ranking first among Taipower cable suppliers over the past two years. Over the next decade, Taipower is expected to continue releasing large turnkey tenders, and as one of Taiwan’s five qualified 345kV extra-high-voltage cable suppliers, the company is well-positioned to benefit from future opportunities.

Figure 4: Four Operational Goals of TA TUN ELECTRIC WIRE & CABLE

Driven by global net-zero carbon trends, the renewable energy industry has gained significant momentum. Beyond supplying conventional transmission cables, the company has expanded into the renewable energy supply chain, including solar, wind power, and energy storage cable systems and deployment.

Historically, TA TUN ELECTRIC WIRE & CABLE CO., LTD. has been focused on public-sector grid tenders as its primary revenue source. However, with increasing demand from the data center and computing infrastructure market, the company has expanded from external grid projects into in-house power systems. By developing 800V products for private-sector technology companies, the company aims to establish a second growth engine for future operations.
