In conjunction with international initiatives and to promote gender equality, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) is once again participating in the "Ring the Bell for Gender Equality" event in 2025, a global initiative organized by the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE). Through its participation, the TWSE reaffirms its steadfast commitment to gender equality.
Coinciding with International Women's Day, this year’s event is led by TWSE Chairman Sherman Lin, President Edith Lee, and Senior Executive Vice President Hui-Chuan Tu. Female executives gathered in solidarity, underscoring TWSE’s commitment to workplace gender equality and amplifying Taiwan’s efforts in fostering gender diversity and inclusion on the international stage. In the announcement of the WFE Women Leaders 2025 on March 7, President Edith Lee was recognized as an outstanding female leader in the global capital markets, as well as being featured in the March issue of the WFE Focus newsletter. President Lee stated that this honor is shared among all TWSE colleagues and their collective contributions to the TWSE success. It also represents the advances in Taiwan's capital market governance and the recognition of the Exchange's efforts in furthering a gender-inclusive workplace, which has been internationally acknowledged.

The TWSE has long been dedicated to creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment. The Exchange ensures a balanced gender ratio among employees and actively promotes awareness and protection of workplace rights through training programs on gender equality. This includes sexual harassment prevention in which the TWSE has established clear policies to guarantee a safe and respectful workplace, thereby strengthening the bonds of corporate governance and organizational culture.
To encourage listed companies to prioritize board gender diversity, the TWSE has proactively advocated for augmenting board gender structures since 2013. In 2015, the Exchange incorporated the percentage of female directors into the Corporate Governance Evaluation indicators, progressively raising the scoring criteria. By the end of 2021, the TWSE further revised the “Corporate Governance Best Practice Principles for TWSE/TPEx Listed Companies,” recommending that female directors constitute at least one-third of the board seats to promote gender-balanced leadership.
By participating in the "Ring the Bell for Gender Equality" initiative, the TWSE emphasizes its commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment while leveraging this global platform to share best practices with exchanges worldwide. Moving forward, the TWSE will team up with market participants to enhance capital market inclusivity. Through clear-cut corporate governance and market mechanisms, the TWSE goal is to further drive a more equitable, diverse, and sustainable financial ecosystem, setting a global benchmark for capital markets.
