FSC lifts the up-tick rule on borrowed constituents of Taiwan Mid-Cap 100 Index and Taiwan Technology Index

TSEC announced that starting November 12, 2007, the up-tick rule on short selling borrowed constituents of Taiwan Mid-Cap 100 Index and Taiwan Technology Index will be lifted with the approval of the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC). In other words, foreign institutional investors will enjoy the exemption when short selling the above-mentioned constituents borrowed from TSEC SBL system, approved securities firms and securities finance companies. This exemption facilitates the efficiency of securities trading and makes the Taiwan stock market more investor friendly.

In order to be exempt from the price restriction, a short sale on borrowed constituents of Taiwan Mid-Cap 100 Index and Taiwan Technology Index needs to be identified by making a number 6 tick on its sell order. Please note that the changes of the up-tick rule exemption are subject to the adjustment of the constituents of Taiwan Mid-Cap 100 Index and Taiwan Technology Index.
